Autrefois partie intégrante de l'ancien Evêché de Bâle et rattaché au canton de Berne en 1815, Saint-Ursanne et les communes du Clos-du-Doubs réclament l'aménagement de l'ancienne prévôté en district, depuis cette date !

Au cour du Jura, à 50 min de Bâle, le Clos-du-Doubs, en tant que réserve naturelle, se livre entre montagne et rivière. Le Doubs, affluent de la Saône, baigne Saint-Ursanne, ancienne petite cité médiévale. C'est le repère d'une histoire prestigieuse aux témoins séculaires tels la Collégiale et le cloître datant du XIIe.

De nombreuses animations estivales, des parcours de canoë-kayak, des balades pédestres, le VTT et la pêche s'offrent au voyageur avide d'art, de culture, de sports aquatiques et terrestres.

The canton of Jura, to the North-West of Switzerland, on the border with France and the Basle region, is latest to join the Confederation. It is barely twenty years old and occupies an area of 840 km2. It comprises three districts: Delémont, Porrentruy (Ajoie and Clos du Doubs) and Franches-Montagnes, it has 83 municipali-ties that share a territory with a population of 70'000. The most important municipality which forms its capital is Delémont.

There is nothing of more natural in an essentially agricultural and forestry environment than to see the development of "soft" tourism playing an increasingly important role in a sector bound to the economy. Ours is the only canton that can, in addition to its mature youth and its freedom, boast of possessing unspoilt Nature, explo-ration activities deriving equally from its heritage, its history, its culture and the world of sport and leisure.

Im Nordwesten der Schweiz, an der Grenze zu Frankreich und der Region Basel ist der Kanton Jura gelegen, der jüngste der Eidgenossenschaft. Dieser Kanton mit einer Fläche von 840 km² ist kaum zwanzig Jahre alt.
Er umfasst drei Distrikte: Delémont, Porrentruy (Ajoie und Clos du Doubs) und Les Franches-Montagnes mit insgesamt 83 Gemeinden, die sich mit ihren 70'000 Einwohnern über das Territorium verteilen. Die grösste und wichtigste Gemeinde und gleichzeitig die Hauptstadt des Kantons ist Delémont.
Was wäre natürlicher in einem hauptsächlich von Landwirtschaft und Wäldern geprägten Milieu als die stetig Weiterentwicklung eines sanften Tourismus als einem bedeutungsvollen Wirtschaftszweig. Unser Kanton ist der einzige, der sich rühmen kann, neben seiner reifen Jugend und seiner Freiheit eine intakte Natur zu besitzen und entdeckungsreiche Aktivitäten zu bieten, die auf seinem reichen Erbe, seiner Geschichte und Kultur beruhen und repräsentativ sind für die Welt des Sports und der Freizeit.
