En Pays de Fribourg, c’est presque le monde à l’envers : vous passez du climat rigoureux des montagnes du sud à la douceur clémente des lacs du nord. Deux langues officielles et trois régions de vacances s’entremêlent sur un territoire plutôt exigu.

Une petite " Heidi " sommeille en chacun de vous… Les Préalpes prêtent le décor majestueux d’une nature de rêve à un folklore bien vivant. Mais ne croyez pas qu’en ce pays tout demeure immuable : au contraire, tradition et modernité se côtoient au quotidien. Chaque année, des milliers de visiteurs redécouvrent le bruit de leurs pas dans la cité piétonne de Gruyères. Son château fortifié offre un panorama de cinq siècles d’histoire et propose des expositions d’art fantastique. Un art en constante évolution à découvrir également au nouveau musée de H.R. Giger, le créateur d’Alien. Quant aux amateurs de VTT et de randonnée, ils s’offriront une cure d’air pur sur les nombreux sentiers balisés au départ de Schwarzsee, Charmey, Moléson, Les Paccots.

S’en aller au gré des ponts ! Sur cette terre, point de grandes villes, mais un chapelet de petites cités venues du Moyen Âge. Fribourg se distingue par la pluralité de ses cultures, par son université, par ses nombreuses possibilités d’études et la richesse de son patrimoine artistique. C’est aussi la ville des ponts : tout un symbole… qui relie par-delà la Sarine les mondes germanique et latin, deux aires linguistiques, deux espaces de culture. La petite ville de Romont est aujourd’hui la capitale du vitrail. Installé dans les murs du château, le Musée suisse du Vitrail a ouvert un atelier de démonstration : des artistes marient le verre et la couleur, pour que la lumière sorte de son silence.

Une folle envie de fraîcheur… Douceur méditerranéenne, " farniente " sur la plage : derrière vous passent des cyclistes, des voiliers filent dans la brise et des skieurs brisent la surface de l’eau… Morat et Estavayer-le-Lac ont traversé le Moyen Âge, mais leur origine est bien plus ancienne. Les Celtes se sont installés il y a bien longtemps dans la région des Trois-Lacs, suivis par les Romains. Déjà, la douceur du climat incitait à la villégiature…

Im kleinen Freiburgerland läuft einiges anders als anderswo. Seitenverkehrte Welt... kühle Berge im Süden und warme Seen im Norden. Zwei Sprachen und drei unterschiedliche Ferienregionen auf engstem Raum.

Sind wir nicht alle ein bisschen Heidi?
In den Voralpen mischen sich grandiose Naturerlebnisse mit gelebter Tradition. Modernes mischt sich hier mit Althergebrachtem. Als Beispiel dafür das verkehrsfreie Gruyères, alljährlich abertausendfach besucht, mit seiner malerischen Innenstadt. Zu besichtigen gibt es das befestigte Schloss, aber auch Wechselausstellungen fantastischer Kunst und das H.R. Giger-Museum. Von Schwarzsee über Charmey, Moléson bis nach Les Paccots erstreckt sich ein abwechslungsreiches Bike- und Wandergebiet.

Über Brücken gehen!
Die mittelalterliche Hauptstadt Fribourg/Freiburg als multi-kulturelle Universitäts- und Bildungsstadt sowie als Kunst- und Kulturperle. Eine Stadt der Brücken... auch symbolisch: Freiburg verbindet die Sprach- und Kulturräume von Deutsch und Französisch. Das Städtchen Romont hat sich ganz der Kunst der Glasmalerei verschrieben. Im savoyischen Schloss ist das Schweizerische Museum für Glasmalerei mitsamt Atelier untergebracht. Kühles Nass an heissen Tagen ... Mediterranes "Dolce far niente" und kulinarische Genüsse am Murten- und Neuenburgersee. Hallo an alle Schifffahrer, Wassersportler und Radwanderer. Murten und Estavayer-le-Lac sind wohl mittelalterlich, aber die Geschichte greift in der Dreiseen-Region bis zur Pfahlbauerzeit zurück.

The Pays de Fribourg is somewhat a world turned upside-down : cold, limestone summits are found in the south and mild, even Mediterranean-like lakesides in the north. On its small territory, two languages coexist and three very distinct holiday regions overlap.

The Temptation to Live like Heidi…

The Pre-Alps and their dream-like scenery, a place where traditions live on in nature’s majestic settings. But don’t let that fool you. Here, what’s old mixes with what’s modern in everyday life. Gruyères - every year, thousands of visitors rediscover the noise that shoes make in this town for pedestrians only. Inside the fortified castle, you’ll find the treasures owned by the former Counts of Gruyères. And along with those objects of history, there’s the H.R. Giger Museum, the creator of Alien. At the same time, you’ll be treating yourself to pure mountain air in Schwarzsee, Charmey, Moléson and Les Paccots where hikers and bikers can look forward to kilometres of well-marked and well-kept paths.

Build Bridges !
The Pays de Fribourg offers you medieval cities with hearts that have been beating as regularly as human hearts. Fribourg’s uniqueness is found in its cultural plurality, university, variety in educational opportunities, and wealth in artistic heritage. Symbolically, the country’s French- and German-speaking populations come together on the banks of the Sarine River. Romont is the capital of the art of making stained glass windows. The Swiss Museum of Stained Glass Windows is located inside the walls of the castle and now includes a demonstration workshop.

Cool Off a Little…
Lazing on the beach with bikers passing behind you, sailboats following the direction the soft wind’s blowing, skiers plowing the water’s surface… Murten and Estavayer-le-Lac crossed the Middle Ages but go back even further than that. The Celts had settled in the Three-Lakes region and were followed by the Romans. Even then, the Mediterranean climate encouraged people to vacation there.
